It's time to plan your garden!

Posted 5/22/2012 7:15pm by Maggie Robertson.

Greetings from M&M Robertson Farms, LLC, where we offer Gardens From Earth home vegetable garden packages!

The Farm to Table conference was nearly 2 months ago but it seems like just yesterday to us.  We have been very busy in our greenhouse and it is now full of lush, healthy Certified Naturally Grown vegetable plants just waiting for a place in your garden.  We offer a backyard vegetable garden package that includes plants, seeds and accessories in one convenient package, and we offer a wide variety of individual plants, all open-pollinated and many heirlooms.

As you plan your garden, make room for flowers and herbs.  Not only do they add beauty and fragrance, they are beneficial to your vegetable plants.  Companion planting is the practice of pairing up plants that grow well together and help each other thrive.  For example, basil goes well with tomatoes and peppers, and I always plant some radishes with my cucumbers and let the radishes flower to help repel cucumber beetles.

Take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about companion planting on Sunday, May 27, when Maggie will be holding a free companion planting workshop at the Pittsburgh Public Market.  The workshop starts at 1:30 and we will discuss the techniques and reasons for companion planting with many examples of beneficial plant combinations.

Maggie's speaking schedule at the Pittsburgh Public Market; workshops start at 1:30:

Women and Agriculture  Sunday, June 3
